Collection: Mediterranean & Drought-Tolerant Garden

A Mediterranean-style garden is mostly about three things: bones, texture, and time. The bones come from evergreen structure: olive, cypress, manzanita, rosemary. The texture comes from silver foliage and gravel and sun-baked stone. The time comes free, as long as you choose plants that actually want to live this way.

This collection gathers everything in our catalog flagged as low-water once established. You'll find olives, lavenders, salvias and sages, ornamental grasses, manzanitas, rockroses, phlomis, ceanothus, and a long bench of other tough beauties. Most want full sun, lean and rocky soil, and very little supplemental water after their first season.

If you're converting a thirsty lawn, designing a hot dry slope, or planning a coastal garden that runs without summer irrigation, start here. We can pair plants for you in person or through a landscape consultation, and our Garden Planner can help you map out a layout that works with your zone and your soil.
