A One-of-a-Kind Nursery in a One-of-a-Kind Place

Nestled at the foot of the hills of the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast, Dragonfly Farm offers a unique shopping experience that is kid and dog friendly. What once was a nursery in the 1940s–60s is now back to life as a fully stocked year-round nursery.

You'll find happy people ready to help you find what you need amongst the large selection of plants tucked under the canopies of camellias, rhododendrons, and large conifers — perennials, annuals, our always-organic vegetable starts, herbs, berries, succulents, cacti, houseplants, shrubs, and trees. We also carry organic fertilizers, potting soil, certified organic pesticides and herbicides, and a growing selection of gift shop finds and gift cards.

Our Founders

A Mother-Daughter Story

The dragonfly symbolizes transformation.

Dragonfly Farm & Nursery was created in 2014 by Pam and her daughter Jenine. The name comes from what the dragonfly symbolizes — transformation — and from the hundreds of dragonflies that fill the farm in summertime.

The property is where Pam mothered all of her kids, and it was once a rare plant nursery more than 40 years ago. She has always seen potential in what we now call "the farm" — always felt as if it were destined for something more. A place to be shared.

From Farm to Nursery

When we first started, we were much more of a farm and less of a nursery. We sold potted plants — herbs and veggies — inside the Old Town Farmers Market in Bandon. We had visions of a full farm.

Then our plant sales started taking off, and the rest fell out of the priority list. We have many plans for the future of Dragonfly Farm — especially to bring more of the "farm" side back. Stay tuned.

Come Wander With Us

Located right off Highway 101 on the east side of the highway, tucked away behind a forest of trees, you'll find Dragonfly Farm & Nursery. As you pull up the tree-tunneled driveway you might see the dogs waiting to greet you.

We love when other dogs come to visit — if they're well-behaved, we don't mind if you let them wander off-leash. Our pups love new friends.

Wander through the gift shop where you'll find unique home decor and yard art. Check out the renovated greenhouse with one of the biggest selections of succulents and houseplants around. Our 2022 Garden Shop is full of gardening supplies, organic fertilizers, and pest control. And don't forget the little ones — kids love Dragonfly Farm.

About Dragonflies

The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolizes change — and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

Our Practices

The environment is important to us, and we aim to grow more of our own plants every year so we can control how they're treated. For us that means no synthetic fertilizer on any edible plants, and using all-natural, organic potting soil and fertilizers when we plant — ensuring strong growth without forcing premature bloom or rapid growth.

When pest control is needed, we look first to our beneficial insect friends. The best defense is a good offense. And when we do need to spray, we use sprays certified for organic gardening.

Did You Know? A Rare-Plant Legacy

Dragonfly Farm was once a rare plant nursery owned by Donald Stryker — known for his large collection of Camellias and Magnolias grown at the farm in the 1940s–60s.

Come in early Spring and you'll see the beautiful blooms of the different varieties Don planted, still thriving on the property today.

Such a sudden little garden right off the 101. If you're heading up the Oregon coast, don't hesitate to make the stop. There is nothing better than a local nursery for herbs and gifts.

Extraordinary each time I visit. Stunning established grounds strewn with a vibrant selection of local and unusual stock. Grand succulent selection and various curious garden shop arrangements to browse.

We rented potted plants and beautiful pots from Dragonfly for our wedding, and they were perfect! Pickup and drop-off were seamless. The team was helpful and professional throughout. Highly recommend for any event!

My absolute favorite place to buy plants! Staff and owners are so kind and helpful. They have a playground that my son can play on while I take my time browsing. They always have a nice selection of seasonal plants as well as house plants.
