Collection: Magnolias

The magnolia is the kind of tree people drive to see in bloom. From the cool pink-cup elegance of Magnolia × soulangeana in early spring to the leathery, lemon-scented evergreen blooms of the southern magnolia in high summer, this is a genus that rewards a long-view gardener.

Our magnolia collection includes deciduous favorites like Galaxy, Genie, and Susan, alongside compact evergreen selections such as Little Gem and Kay Parris that fit smaller yards and tighter spaces. Most prefer rich, well-drained soil and consistent moisture during their first few seasons. After that, they ask very little.

Magnolias grow well across most of the Pacific Northwest. The deciduous forms light up cold gray springs; the evergreens earn their keep all winter. Pick by mature size first, bloom color second. We're happy to walk you through the trade-offs in person if you visit the nursery or book a consultation.
