About This Plant

Grevillea 'Kings Fire' (Spider Flower), 'Kings Fire', is valued for its garden character and seasonal interest in PNW landscapes.

Grevilleas are Australian evergreens with finely dissected foliage and spider-like flowers in red, pink, yellow, or white that draw hummingbirds. Outstanding tough drought-tolerant shrubs for sunny, well-drained sites.

Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained, lean, acidic soil. Hardy USDA Zone 8 to 10. Marginally hardy in zone 8 PNW; site in warmest exposure. Avoid phosphorus fertilizers (Australian natives are sensitive).

For a Pacific Northwest native shrub of similar character, consider Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape, Oregon state flower), Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange), or Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray) , all support native pollinators and birds.
