About This Plant

Zantedeschia 'Snowboard' is a white hybrid calla lily bred for strong stems, large spathe size, and reliable performance as a cut flower. The blooms are a clean, creamy white, smooth and unblemished, with the classic calla form: a wide, curving funnel that tapers to a fine point. On the cut stem, they last a week or more in a vase. The bold, arrow-shaped foliage is dark green and often marked with silvery-white speckling, an ornamental quality in its own right that makes the plant attractive in the bed or container even before flowering begins.

White callas have a long history in the Pacific Northwest as garden plants and as florist flowers, and they naturalize readily in milder coastal climates. On the Oregon coast, 'Snowboard' rhizomes can often overwinter in the ground with a protective layer of mulch, coming back reliably each spring. In wetter winters, good drainage becomes important, since rhizomes will rot if they sit in standing water through the cold months.

Plant rhizomes 2 inches deep in moist, humus-rich soil after the last frost in spring.
