Chastetree , large multi-stem shrub or small tree with palmate aromatic foliage and lavender-blue late-summer flower spikes adored by bees and butterflies. Mediterranean-character specimen.

Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained; tolerates lean conditions soil. Hardy USDA Zone 6 to 9. Drought-tolerant once established. Cut back hard in late winter to encourage strong flowering. Generally trouble-free.

For a Pacific Northwest native counterpart in scale and bloom, consider Amelanchier alnifolia (Saskatoon / Western Serviceberry) for white spring flowers and edible blue berries, or Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for show-stopping spring bracts in light shade.
