About This Plant

Creeping Speedwell (Veronica repens) is a very low creeping evergreen mat with tiny rounded leaves and small pale blue-white spring flowers; tolerates light foot traffic. 1 to 2 in tall. Zone 4 to 8, full sun, moderate water. Pollinator magnet, tall spikes draw bumblebees, butterflies, and hummingbird moths for weeks. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, tough as nails once established.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained soil to prevent winter crown rot. Tolerates poor and rocky soils once established. Works as a lawn alternative in part shade and tolerates occasional mowing. Divide clumps every 3-4 years in early spring to keep them vigorous.
