Care Notes

Acidic soil (pH 4.5 to 5.5) is essential; amend with peat and sulfur in neutral PNW soils. Consistently moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Plant two or more cultivars from overlapping bloom groups for cross-pollination and better fruit set. Prune in late winter, removing oldest canes to renew vigor. Watch for mummy berry (remove and dispose of infected fruit), Spotted Wing Drosophila in late-ripening cultivars; use bird netting at ripening.
