About This Plant

Tradescantia 'Pink Princess' is one of the most visually striking inch plants available, offering narrow lance-shaped leaves striped in cream, green, and vivid pink-purple on trailing, fast-growing stems. It thrives indoors as a houseplant or in sheltered outdoor containers during the warm season, cascading beautifully from hanging baskets, window boxes, and tabletop pots. The more bright, indirect light the plant receives, the more intense the pink variegation becomes, so position it near a window or in a lightly shaded outdoor spot to keep those colors saturated and prevent reversion to plain green.

Water 'Pink Princess' when the top half of the soil has dried out, allowing good drainage to prevent the root rot that overwatering causes. It is not frost hardy and will not survive Oregon coast winters outdoors, but it grows with impressive speed indoors year-round and makes an easy-care, low-maintenance trailing plant for any bright interior space. Fertilize lightly during the growing season to sustain the colorful foliage and encourage new growth. Pinch stems regularly to keep the plant bushy rather than leggy.

Keep this plant away from pets and children. The sap contains compounds that cause contact dermatitis and can trigger mild gastrointestinal irritation if ingested, so wear gloves when pruning or repotting. With a little care, 'Pink Princess' is nearly foolproof, propagating readily from cuttings placed directly in water or moist soil, making it easy to share with friends or fill new containers.
