Tillandsia ionantha 'Lilac Enhanced' (Air Plant)

Tillandsia ionantha 'Lilac Enhanced' is a selection of the beloved compact air plant native to Mexico and Central America, developed for a softer, cooler bloom-time color than the standard fire-red forms. Where most ionantha cultivars flush vivid scarlet or hot pink before flowering, the 'Lilac Enhanced' selection develops muted lavender and lilac tones across its inner leaves at bloom time, giving the whole plant a gentle, painterly quality. Violet-blue tubular flowers emerge from the center and complete the effect.

The plant itself stays small, typically 2 to 4 inches across, and carries the classic ionantha form: a tight rosette of narrow, silver-green leaves covered in moisture-absorbing trichomes. Display options are nearly unlimited at this size. Group several ionantha cultivars together for a color study, or use this one as a small-scale accent in a terrarium, on a wood slice, or in a hanging glass globe.

After blooming, expect several pups to form at the base.
