About This Plant
Tillandsia capitata 'Raspberry' is a color form of capitata selected for the intensity of its pre-bloom flush, which turns a rich, deep raspberry-pink rather than the peachier tones of other selections. The wide, arching leaves of the silvery-green rosette begin blushing at the center as the bloom spike develops, eventually saturating to a deep, vivid raspberry-magenta that contrasts beautifully with the purple tubular flowers at the heart of the inflorescence. Among the capitata forms, 'Raspberry' produces one of the most saturated and visually dramatic color shows.
Care is the same as for all capitata selections. Soak weekly for 20 to 30 minutes, shake out excess water and let it dry thoroughly within a few hours. Bright indirect light develops the best color change. The wide rosette can collect water, so tip it on its side after watering to let any pooled water drain before returning it to display.
Fertilize monthly during the active season to support the eventual bloom and pup production.
