About This Plant

Tillandsia capitata 'Peach' is a medium to large air plant that stages one of the most beautiful color transformations in the genus. For most of the year it presents as a silvery-green rosette with wide, softly arching leaves. As it approaches bloom, the leaves blush progressively from the center outward in a warm peachy-salmon tone, deepening toward coral before the purple tubular flowers emerge. The contrast between the soft pastel foliage and the vivid purple blooms is genuinely striking, and the whole transformation unfolds over several weeks.

This is a larger Tillandsia, reaching 8 to 12 inches wide at maturity, so it commands some space. It tolerates a range of indoor conditions but performs best with bright indirect light, which is what encourages the most vivid color development before bloom. Soak weekly for 20 to 30 minutes and allow thorough drying afterward. The wide, open rosette can trap water, so tipping the plant sideways after soaking helps drainage.

After the bloom fades, the plant will produce several pups around the base.
