About This Plant
Tillandsia brachycaulos v. multiflora is the prolific-blooming variant of brachycaulos, distinguished by producing more flowers per inflorescence than the standard species. Like its close relative, it is a medium-sized air plant with soft, bright green, wide-arching leaves that form an open, star-like rosette. The multiflora designation reflects its tendency to produce multiple flower spikes or a denser inflorescence, making it one of the showier-blooming members of the brachycaulos group. As with all brachycaulos forms, the foliage flushes red or orange-red as it comes into bloom.
Care follows the standard Tillandsia routine. Soak for 20 to 30 minutes once a week in room-temperature water, then shake off the excess and allow the plant to dry fully within a few hours, ideally upside down or tilted so no water pools at the base. Medium to bright indirect light produces the best growth and the most vivid color changes at bloom time.
Its open rosette form works well in terrariums with adequate airflow.
