Pond Cypress , southeastern N American native deciduous conifer; finer-textured cousin of bald cypress, with vertical ascending branchlets. Beautiful russet-bronze fall color before winter needle drop.
Full sun suits this species. Plant in moist; tolerates wet and seasonally flooded sites soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 9. Tolerates seasonally flooded sites; adaptable. Generally trouble-free.
For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
