About This Plant
Styrax japonicus 'JL Weeping Marley's Pink' (Japanese Snowbell) is a Japanese Snowbell, a Japan, Korea, China ornamental cultivar 'JL Weeping Marley'.
Refined small tree (20 to 30 ft) with horizontal branching and pendant white bell-flowers in late spring. 'Pink Chimes' is the popular pink-flowered cultivar. Best viewed from below where flowers hang. Excellent patio or specimen tree.
Plant in part shade to full sun, in humus-rich, well-drained, slightly acidic; consistent moisture soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 8. Long-lived. Generally deer-resistant once established.
If you'd like a Pacific Northwest native tree with similar grace, consider Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood), Acer circinatum (Vine Maple), Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone), or Amelanchier alnifolia (Saskatoon). These provide bird food, pollinator support, and Indigenous food heritage in your landscape.
