Salix matsudana (Corkscrew Wil), 'Corkscrew Wil' is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.

Hankow / Corkscrew Willow , Asian willow grown for novelty curled and twisted branches in 'Tortuosa' selections. Often used in cut-flower work.

Full sun suits this species. Plant in moist; tolerates wet sites soil. Hardy USDA Zone 4 to 8. Aggressive shallow roots; short-lived. Watch for canker.

For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
