About This Plant
Climbing White Iceberg is the vigorous climbing sport of one of the most celebrated floribunda roses ever introduced. It produces an abundance of pure white, semi-double blooms with a sweet, light honey fragrance from late spring through fall, repeat-flowering reliably on long, arching canes that can reach 10 to 15 feet when trained to a support. The flowers hold their white color well without browning prematurely, and the light-green foliage is notably disease-resistant for a white rose.
This is a rose that rewards a good structure. On a trellis, arbor, or fence it becomes genuinely architectural, building up canes over several years into a dense, floriferous framework. The first year focuses on establishment and root development. By years two and three, flowering ramps up considerably. Prune lightly after the main flush to encourage later repeat bloom, and remove dead or crossing canes in late winter.
On the Oregon coast, White Iceberg's excellent disease resistance is a significant advantage in our maritime climate where black spot can challenge less robust varieties. Full sun is ideal. Plant in rich, well-drained soil with good air circulation around the base. A classic, reliable, and genuinely beautiful climber that has earned its reputation over decades of garden use.
