About This Plant
Miniature roses pack all the charm of their full-sized relatives into a tidy, container-friendly package. These compact plants bloom prolifically from late spring through the first frost, producing perfectly formed flowers in every color the rose world has to offer, from blush white and soft yellow to vivid red and rich bicolors. Each bloom is architecturally correct, just scaled down, which makes them enormously satisfying on a windowsill, patio table, or at the front of a border where full-sized shrubs would overwhelm.
Mini roses are among the most rewarding plants for gardeners who want rose beauty without the space commitment. They respond well to regular deadheading, pushing out flush after flush of new blooms rather than setting hips. A light trim after each flush keeps plants bushy and dense. Most miniatures are grafted or grown on their own roots and are sufficiently cold-hardy for western Oregon winters.
Container culture suits them especially well.
