About This Plant
'Pink Pinwheels' is an immediately recognizable rhododendron with a flower form that lives up to its name. The blooms are white with distinct pink edges on each petal, arranged in an open, slightly star-like form that creates a pinwheel effect in each truss. It is a fresher, more playful look than many traditional rhododendrons.
This variety grows to a compact to medium size, making it a practical choice for smaller gardens or for the foreground of a mixed shrub border. It blooms in mid-spring alongside daffodils and tulips, and the white and pink combination works particularly well with soft purples, blues, and yellow-greens in the surrounding planting.
Plant 'Pink Pinwheels' in the same conditions that suit all rhododendrons: acidic, well-drained soil, filtered or morning light, and consistent moisture through the growing season.
