About This Plant
'Sprinkles Yellow' ranunculus is the kind of cut flower that stops people mid-sentence when they see it in a vase. The blooms are fully double, layer upon layer of tissue-thin petals arranged in a perfect rosette, in a clean, warm yellow that reads as sunny and fresh without veering into orange. The Sprinkles series was bred for particularly multi-petaled blooms and strong stems.
Ranunculus corms are planted in fall in mild-winter areas or in early spring where winters are cold, and they flower in the cool temperatures of spring, which suits coastal Oregon beautifully. Plant corms with the claws facing down in well-drained, amended soil in full to part sun.
Once blooms finish and foliage yellows, allow the corms to dry naturally before lifting and storing them for replanting, or in mild coastal locations they can sometimes be left in the ground through summer if drainage is excellent.
