About This Plant
'Pink Beauty' radish is a quick-growing spring and fall root vegetable that produces round, rosy-pink roots with crisp white flesh and a mild, pleasant flavor that is noticeably less sharp than many red radish varieties. The color is genuine, a soft candy-pink that holds well even after slicing, which makes these attractive on a salad plate or a crudite spread. Days to harvest typically run 25 to 30 days from sowing.
Direct sow into garden beds or containers in early spring as soon as soil can be worked, and again in late summer for a fall harvest. Cool temperatures and consistent moisture are the keys to mild, crisp roots. Radishes that mature in heat tend to turn pithy and sharply peppery, which is why the shoulder seasons are so ideal on the Oregon coast.
Thin seedlings to about two inches apart for well-formed roots and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Succession sow every two weeks to spread out the harvest over the season.
