About This Plant
Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Marjorie Channon' (Kohuhu), 'Marjorie Channon', is valued for its garden character and seasonal interest in PNW landscapes.
Pittosporums are evergreen shrubs and small trees prized for refined wavy-edged foliage in many cultivars (variegated, gold, near-black) and small fragrant cream flowers. Outstanding coastal hedge shrubs.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 8 to 11. Marginally hardy in zone 8 PNW; site in warmest exposure. Generally trouble-free.
For a Pacific Northwest native shrub of similar character, consider Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape, Oregon state flower), Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange), or Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray) , all support native pollinators and birds.
