About This Plant
Peperomia is one of the great unsung houseplant genera, offering an enormous range of textures, colors, and leaf shapes all in compact, easy-care packages. With over 1,000 species in the family, every Peperomia has its own character, but they share a common set of virtues that make them excellent houseplants: they tolerate low light better than most, they don't need frequent watering, and they stay small and tidy without outgrowing their space.
Peperomias are semi-succulent, storing water in their thick leaves, which means they are very forgiving if you miss a watering. Allow the soil to dry out significantly between waterings, give them bright to moderate indirect light, and avoid overwatering, which is the main way to lose one.
If you're new to houseplants or want something genuinely fuss-free, Peperomia is one of the best choices available.
