About This Plant
Ivy geraniums have a different character than their upright zonal cousins: the stems trail and cascade, the leaves are glossy and somewhat angular (giving them the ivy comparison), and the overall effect in a hanging basket or window box is lush and flowing rather than formal. The 'White' selection keeps that cascading habit but delivers clean, pure white blooms that brighten shaded spots and work beautifully against green foliage or colorful companions in mixed plantings.
White ivy geraniums are a classic choice for porch baskets and railing planters, where they trail gracefully and flower reliably all summer long. The blooms appear in clusters above the foliage and hold up well even in light rain, which matters on the Oregon coast. They're more tolerant of cooler temperatures than many summer annuals, making them a natural fit for our coastal climate where nights stay mild rather than hot.
Plant in well-draining soil and give them a spot with good light, at least a half day of sun. Regular watering keeps them blooming, but avoid getting the foliage wet during watering to reduce the risk of fungal issues. Deadhead or shear lightly to encourage fresh growth and continuous bloom through the season.
