Full sun to part sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Hardy USDA Zone 9 to 11. Frost-tender. Overwinter under glass or treat as annuals. Different from hardy Geranium.
For a Pacific Northwest native perennial of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Tellima grandiflora (Fringecups), or Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) , all support native pollinators.
