About This Plant

'Americana Dark Red' is the kind of geranium that anchors a container or garden bed with real presence. The flowers are a deep, saturated crimson-red, carried in large rounded clusters above fresh green foliage with the classic zonal banding that makes this type instantly recognizable. Part of the Americana series, this variety is bred for strong, upright growth, free-flowering habit, and excellent heat tolerance.

Zonal geraniums are among the most reliable warm-season annuals you can grow. They thrive in full sun with well-drained soil, handle some drought once established, and bloom most heavily when given consistent deadheading and a balanced fertilizer through the season.

On the coast, where summers are mild and the light is often soft, deep red geraniums stand out with particular clarity against blue sky and gray-green foliage.
