About This Plant
Margarita Orange Flare brings the warmest end of the color spectrum to spring and early summer containers and borders, with two-to-three-inch daisy flowers in a rich tangerine-orange that glows in the cool light of coastal mornings. The blooms are large relative to the plant's compact size, and they appear in such quantity on well-grown plants that the foliage becomes secondary to the flower show. The Margarita series is notable for its uniformity and consistent bloom performance, and the 'Orange Flare' selection is particularly useful for providing a warm anchor color in mixed plantings.
African daisies are cool-season performers that hit their stride in the Pacific Northwest's spring and early summer conditions, making them an excellent choice for filling containers and borders from late April through July. They slow down somewhat in peak summer heat but often rebound with the return of cooler fall temperatures. Deadheading or periodic trimming back keeps flower production going longer. The mounding, slightly spreading habit works well as a container filler or front-of-border plant, and the intense orange pairs well with blues, purples, and yellow-greens in mixed plantings.
