About This Plant
Smiling Twin is a butterfly daffodil of extraordinary elegance, belonging to the split-corona class where the central trumpet of the flower is divided into flat segments that lie back against the outer petals like a fluttering collar. The flowers are large and complex, with broad, white perianth petals and a split corona of soft light yellow that ruffles and frills in a way that makes each bloom look like an elaborate confection. Unusually, this variety produces two flowers per stem.
The split-corona class of daffodils is sometimes called butterfly or orchid daffodils, and when you see Smiling Twin in bloom it is easy to understand why. The flowers have a lightness and intricacy that sets them apart from traditional trumpet daffodils, and they make exceptional cut flowers.
Like all narcissus, Smiling Twin is reliably deer and rabbit resistant, naturalizes well in garden beds, and returns year after year with increasing vigor as bulbs multiply.
