About This Plant
Thai Constellation Monstera is, quite simply, one of the most celebrated houseplants to emerge in recent years. It takes the already-iconic Swiss Cheese Plant and adds a layer of creamy, star-scattered variegation across those wide, fenestrated leaves, each one a little different from the last. The name comes from the scattered cream and pale yellow splashes that drift across the deep green surface like a constellation map. Unlike some variegated Monsteras, Thai Constellation's markings are stable, the result of a tissue-culture mutation rather than a reversible chimera, so the variegation holds reliably through new growth.
Growing conditions mirror those of the standard Monstera: bright, indirect light brings out the best leaf color and encourages those distinctive leaf splits to develop fully. Water thoroughly once the top inch or two of soil dries out, and give it humidity when you can. Indoors it will reach six to eight feet tall if given a support to climb, though it grows more slowly than the standard species, partly because the lighter-variegated sections of each leaf contain less chlorophyll and produce energy more slowly.
This plant won Favorite New Foliage Plant at the Tropical Plant International Expo in 2020.
