About This Plant

Lobelia erinus 'White' brings crisp, clean color to containers, hanging baskets, and garden borders from late spring through fall. Its pure white blooms brighten shaded spots and create elegant contrast when paired with bold-colored companions like deep purple petunias or coral geraniums. The trailing habit makes it especially effective cascading over the edges of raised planters and window boxes.

This variety performs beautifully in the cool coastal climate of the Oregon coast, where mild summers allow it to bloom continuously without the midsummer slump common in hotter inland regions. It prefers consistent moisture and will appreciate afternoon shade in warmer exposures. A light midseason trim keeps plants full and productive through fall.

White lobelia is a valuable pollinator plant, attracting small native bees with its nectar-rich flowers. It works as a living edge in cutting gardens and is stunning en masse as a ground cover beneath larger annuals. Plant after frost danger has passed, keep well-watered, and feed with a balanced fertilizer every few weeks for best performance.
