About This Plant

Lobelia erinus 'Rose' is a compact, free-flowering annual that delivers rich rose-pink blooms from late spring through frost. Bred for continuous color, this trailing to mounding variety is a workhorse in container gardens, window boxes, and hanging baskets. Its fine-textured foliage and prolific flower production make it a reliable choice for layering color at the front of mixed plantings.

On the Oregon coast, 'Rose' lobelia thrives in the cool, mild summers that often frustrate other warm-season annuals. It prefers consistent moisture and partial shade in warmer inland exposures but handles more sun near the coast where temperatures stay moderate. Deadheading is not required, though a light shear midseason can rejuvenate plants that slow during summer heat.

Pair 'Rose' lobelia with white alyssum, pale blue bacopa, or trailing silver dichondra for a classic cottage-style container. Attractive to small native bees and butterflies, it adds pollinator value to patio plantings. Plant after last frost danger has passed and keep well-watered during establishment.
