About This Plant

Lobelia 'Blue Eyes' is a trailing annual beloved for its profusion of small, vivid flowers featuring sky-blue petals with a distinctive white center, the eye that gives this cultivar its name. Part of the edging lobelia group, this compact selection grows 4 to 6 inches tall and trails gracefully over container edges and hanging baskets. It is one of the best plants for adding true blue color to summer gardens.

Lobelia erinus thrives in cool weather, which makes it a natural fit for the Pacific Northwest. It performs beautifully in spring and fall and often takes a brief break during the hottest weeks of summer. Plant in partial shade to full sun. Keep the soil consistently moist.

Start seeds indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost. Note that all parts of lobelia are toxic if ingested, so position containers out of reach of pets and young children.
