About This Plant

Juniperus scopulorum 'Wichita Blue' is a Rocky Mountain Juniper cultivar with broad pyramidal habit with intense silvery-blue scale foliage, native to the western US dryland mountains from BC south to New Mexico (including eastern Oregon). 10 to 15 ft tall, narrow upright habit. Zone 3 to 7. Full sun, well-drained soil. Rocky Mountain Juniper handles dry exposed sites that defeat most ornamentals; valuable bird-shelter conifer in dryland gardens. Female plants bear blue waxy seed cones eaten by Townsend's Solitaire, waxwings, and robins.
