About This Plant
Jacaranda Tree is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.
Jacaranda , South American native, spectacular violet-blue late-spring flower clouds. Frost-tender; treated as a summer-patio container or conservatory specimen in the PNW.
Full sun suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 9b to 11. Not winter-hardy outdoors in coastal southern Oregon. Move under cover at first frost.
For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
