About This Plant
Hypericum inodorum 'Globo Coral' (St. John's Wort), 'Globo Coral', is valued for its garden character and seasonal interest in PNW landscapes.
St. John's Wort (Hypericum) , shrubby species (H. calycinum, H. frondosum, etc.) bear bright yellow flowers with prominent stamens through summer. Tough adaptable shrubs for foundation plantings and groundcover use.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 5 to 9. Generally trouble-free; drought-tolerant once established.
For a Pacific Northwest native shrub of similar character, consider Mahonia aquifolium (Tall Oregon Grape, Oregon state flower), Philadelphus lewisii (Mock Orange), or Holodiscus discolor (Oceanspray) , all support native pollinators and birds.
