About This Plant

Hibiscus 'Tradewinds Tye Dye Wind' is a bold tropical hibiscus hybrid that delivers dinner-plate-sized blooms in swirling patterns of red, pink, and white, true to its tie-dye name. Part of the Tradewinds series, this selection produces flowers that can reach 8 to 10 inches across on compact plants that top out around 3 to 4 feet tall. It performs best in full sun with consistent moisture.

In the Pacific Northwest, this hibiscus is typically grown as a tender perennial. It may overwinter with heavy mulch in sheltered locations in zones 8 and warmer, but most gardeners treat it as an annual or bring containers indoors before first frost. Plants respond well to regular fertilizing during the growing season.

Each individual flower lasts only a day or two, but healthy plants set new buds continuously through summer and into fall. Hibiscus blooms attract hummingbirds and large bees. Toxic to dogs and cats per ASPCA.
