About This Plant

Heuchera (Purple), 'Purple', is valued for seasonal interest and the role it plays in PNW garden borders.

Coral Bells (Heuchera) are foliage-forward evergreen perennials with countless cultivars in burgundy, purple, gold, peach, silver, and bicolored leaves. Airy late-spring flower spikes attract hummingbirds.

Part shade to full sun suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 4 to 9. Mulch lightly. Watch for vine weevil notching on leaves. Tends to heave in winter , replant deeper or mulch the crown.

For a Pacific Northwest native perennial of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Tellima grandiflora (Fringecups), or Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) , all support native pollinators.
