About This Plant
Forever Purple delivers exactly what the name promises: deeply saturated, glossy purple foliage that holds its color through the full growing season rather than fading to green in summer heat the way some Heucheras do. The leaves have a subtle fluted edge and faint darker veining that adds dimension to the color, and the overall form is a tidy, compact mound that works in borders, containers, and edging situations without outgrowing its space. In morning sun or bright partial shade, the color is at its most intense.
In late spring and into summer, slender stems rise above the foliage carrying small, bell-shaped flowers in soft purple-pink, adding a second season of interest beyond the foliage. The evergreen nature of the plant means it provides color and structure through fall and winter as well, which is valuable in the Pacific Northwest where the garden needs all the off-season interest it can get. Forever Purple is one of those plants that earns its place not through one dramatic moment but through consistent, reliable performance across every season. It pairs especially well with chartreuse foliage, silver-leaved plants, and white flowers.
