About This Plant
Hardy fuchsia 'Rosey Glow' is a vigorous deciduous shrub that puts on a spectacular show from midsummer through fall. Its pendulous flowers feature rosy-pink sepals that flare back to reveal a soft pink to pale lavender corolla, creating a layered, lantern-like bloom that hummingbirds find irresistible. This selection belongs to the Fuchsia magellanica group, which has earned its reputation as the hardiest of the fuchsias and one of the most reliable performers on the Oregon coast.
Plants grow 3 to 4 feet tall and wide in a loose, arching habit well suited to mixed borders, foundation plantings, or containers. 'Rosey Glow' thrives in the cool, moist summers of coastal Oregon. It prefers partial shade but tolerates full sun with consistent moisture. In USDA zones 7 and warmer, plants are often semi-evergreen. In colder winters, they die back to the roots and resprout reliably in spring.
Prune hard in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges to encourage vigorous stems and the best flower display. Hardy fuchsia is an exceptional choice for coastal Pacific Northwest gardens and supports pollinators well into autumn.
