About This Plant

Ginkgo biloba 'Princeton Sentry' (Maidenhair Tree) is a Maidenhair Tree, a China (sole survivor of an ancient lineage) ornamental cultivar 'Princeton Sentry'.

Living fossil; sole survivor of an ancient gymnosperm lineage. Distinctive fan-shaped leaves turn brilliant gold in fall, often dropping all at once. Long-lived (1000+ yr). Choose MALE cultivars only; female trees produce smelly fruit. Excellent urban tree (pollution + drought + cold tolerant).

Plant in full sun, in adaptable; well-drained; tolerates urban conditions soil. Hardy USDA Zone 3 to 9. Long-lived. Generally deer-resistant once established.

If you'd like a Pacific Northwest native tree with similar grace, consider Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood), Acer circinatum (Vine Maple), Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone), or Amelanchier alnifolia (Saskatoon). These provide bird food, pollinator support, and Indigenous food heritage in your landscape.
