About This Plant

Garden Valley Organic Compost is a green-waste based compost made by Rexius in Eugene, Oregon. It is OMRI Listed and certified for organic growing, and follows the Seal of Testing Assurance guidelines set by the US Composting Council. The material is composed entirely of composted green waste and is processed to the standards required for certified organic production. It has a fine, dark texture that blends easily into garden soil or spreads cleanly as a topdressing.

Use this compost as a soil amendment at planting time, working it into the top several inches of your garden bed to improve structure, drainage, and water retention. On sandy soil it holds moisture. On heavy clay it opens up compacted ground. For new lawns, spread a half-inch to three-quarter-inch layer over freshly seeded areas to stabilize seed and retain surface moisture through germination. It also works well as an annual topdress around established perennials, shrubs, and trees to replenish organic matter as it breaks down each growing season.

Rexius has been producing compost at their Eugene facility for decades, and Garden Valley Organic Compost is one of the most straightforward products they make. For customers who want an OMRI Listed product without added manures or fertilizers, this is our clean-compost option.
