GandB Pumice

G&B Organics Pumice is a single-ingredient volcanic amendment from the G&B Simples line, made from 100% natural pumice stone with no additives. Pumice forms when volcanic lava cools rapidly, trapping air inside a porous, lightweight mineral structure. That porosity is what makes it valuable in the garden: water and air move freely through it, it does not compact over time, and it remains stable in the soil for years without breaking down.

Work it into dense clay or compacted soils to open up drainage and get air down to the root zone. It is especially effective in raised beds and container mixes for succulents, cacti, conifers, and native plants that need sharp drainage. In container soils, blend roughly one part pumice to three or four parts potting mix to prevent waterlogging. In garden beds, incorporate several inches into the top foot of soil where drainage is a persistent problem. It can also be used as a coarse top-dressing in bonsai or potted plant arrangements.

We stock the G&B Organics pumice because it is available through independent nurseries in the Western US and performs reliably. The volcanic material is inert and pH-neutral, meaning it will not change the chemistry of your soil, only its physical structure.
