About This Plant

G&B Organics Garden Soil with BiocharMax is an OMRI Listed garden soil built around a proprietary soft-wood biochar called BIOCHARmax, created through pyrolysis, a high-heat, low-oxygen burning process that produces a highly porous charcoal-like material. The full ingredient list includes bark fines, peat moss, sand, dehydrated poultry litter, gypsum, soft-wood biochar, bat guano, and worm castings. The biochar persists in the soil for years, continuing to improve moisture retention and nutrient holding capacity well beyond the initial planting season. The pH range of 6.0 to 7.3 is well suited for most vegetables and ornamentals.

Work this soil into existing native beds as an amendment, or use it to fill raised beds and in-ground planting holes. For transplants, mix it into the backfill around the root ball. One 1.5 cubic foot bag handles 3 to 4 one-gallon transplants or amends a modest planting area. This product is designed for outdoor in-ground and raised bed use rather than containers.

The BIOCHARmax sets this product apart from standard composts and amendments. Biochar does not break down the way organic matter does, so the structural and moisture benefits accumulate in the soil over multiple seasons. For gardeners focused on building long-term soil health, it is a meaningful addition to the mix.
