About This Plant
Fuchsia 'Blue Eyes' is a trailing fuchsia that earns its name with pendant blooms featuring lavender-blue sepals that flare back to reveal a contrasting pink corolla. The flowers dangle in clusters from arching stems, creating a layered curtain of color from late spring through fall. Hummingbirds find it irresistible, making it one of the most rewarding plants you can hang near a window or porch.
This variety grows about 12 inches tall with a spread up to 24 inches, making it ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes, and mixed containers. The dense, low foliage means you won't need filler plants to cover bare stems. On the Oregon coast, where summer heat stays gentle, fuchsias thrive in a way they simply can't in hotter inland climates. 'Blue Eyes' is particularly well-suited to the cool, overcast conditions we see in Langlois and along the southern coast.
Keep it in a spot with bright morning light and some afternoon shade, and water consistently to prevent the roots from drying out. Deadheading spent blooms encourages continuous flowering. If you're looking for a plant that delivers season-long color with genuine pollinator appeal and almost theatrical hanging form, 'Blue Eyes' delivers all of it.
