About This Plant

Eucalyptus gunnii Silver Drop is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.

Cider Gum , among the hardiest eucalyptus species, with rounded juvenile foliage and white peeling bark. Fast-growing.

Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 7 to 10. More cold-hardy than most eucalyptus; can be coppiced for cut foliage production. Avoid heavy wet soils.

For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
