About This Plant
Eucalyptus globulus (Southern), 'Southern' is valued in the landscape for character, form, and seasonal interest.
Tasmanian Blue Gum , fast-growing iconic eucalyptus with peeling bark and aromatic foliage. Needs space , easily 100+ ft.
Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 9 to 11. INVASIVE WATCH on California coast; less aggressive in southern Oregon but worth siting carefully. Marginally hardy in zone 9.
For a Pacific Northwest native tree of similar character, consider Acer macrophyllum (Bigleaf Maple) for canopy, Cornus nuttallii (Pacific Dogwood) for spring bloom, or Arbutus menziesii (Pacific Madrone) for evergreen sculpture and red bark.
