About This Plant

Espoma Organic Orchid Mix is a pine bark-based potting medium from Espoma Organic, a family-owned company in Millville, New Jersey that has been making organic plant care products since 1929. The formula combines aged pine bark as the primary ingredient with perlite for drainage, horticultural charcoal to resist odors and improve aeration, limestone to regulate pH, and yucca extract as a natural wetting agent. No synthetic plant foods or chemicals are used, and the blend is made from 100% natural and organic-approved ingredients.

It is ideal for phalaenopsis, cattleyas, dendrobiums, cymbidiums, and bromeliads. Soak the mix for 24 hours before repotting to allow the bark to absorb moisture evenly. Remove the plant from its old pot, trim any dead roots, and cut healthy roots back to about 6 inches. Fill the new container one-third full with mix, center the plant, and fill to within half an inch of the rim. Water thoroughly and let it drain. Repot annually, ideally just after the plant finishes blooming or when you see new growth beginning.

Espoma is one of the most trusted names in organic gardening, and this mix reflects their commitment to using only natural raw materials. For growers who prefer to keep their plant care routine fully organic from soil to fertilizer, it pairs well with Espoma's Orchid liquid fertilizer.
