About This Plant

Coneflowers (Echinacea) are tough North American prairie perennials with cone-shaped flowers in pink, white, orange, or yellow. Pollinator and goldfinch favorites; drought-tolerant.
Full sun suits this species. Plant in well-drained soil. Hardy USDA Zone 3 to 9. Leave seed heads through winter for goldfinches. Generally trouble-free.
For a Pacific Northwest native perennial of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Tellima grandiflora (Fringecups), or Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) , all support native pollinators.
