About This Plant
Delphinium Red Lark (Larkspur), 'Larkspur', is valued for seasonal interest and the role it plays in PNW garden borders.
Delphiniums are classic cottage-garden perennials with tall flower spikes in blue, purple, white, or pink. Best in cool-summer climates like the PNW.
Full sun to part shade suits this species. Plant in moist, well-drained, fertile, alkaline soil. Hardy USDA Zone 3 to 7. ALL PARTS TOXIC. Stake tall stems. Cut back after first flush for repeat bloom.
For a Pacific Northwest native perennial of similar character, consider Aquilegia formosa (Western Red Columbine), Tellima grandiflora (Fringecups), or Dicentra formosa (Pacific Bleeding Heart) , all support native pollinators.
