About This Plant

Cool Customer was bred specifically for organic growers by Dr. John Navazio at Johnny's Selected Seeds, with an emphasis on disease resistance and the ideal shape for pickling. The fruit is exactly what a pickling cucumber should look like: blocky, uniformly sized, with thin skin and crisp flesh that holds up in a brine without getting mushy. Plants stay compact and manageable compared to more aggressive cucumber vines, which makes them easier to trellis and harvest without missing any fruit hiding under the foliage.

What sets this variety apart in the home garden is its versatility. Pick the fruits small at two to three inches for traditional whole pickles, or let them reach slicer size and eat them fresh off the vine. The variety does not tend toward bitterness, which is a genuine quality-of-life improvement over some older pickling types. Disease resistance keeps the plants productive late into the season when other cucumbers often give out.

Cool Customer is a practical, high-performing variety that was bred with home and market gardeners in mind.
